Tine & Cellar

I wanted to start out 2020 with a place with one of the largest beer offerings in Central Wisconsin – Tine and Cellar has an astronomical 101 taps. Yes, one-hundred and one taps.

I was a little daunted at having 101 choices to make but the manager, Eric, was a beer lover’s savior. Knowing I like my IPAs, he pulled samples of Central Waters’ HHG and Toppling Goliath’s Pseudo Sue – which are awesome brews, but one’s I’ve had many times before. Seeing my ‘eh’ expression he tells me he’s got one I think I’ll like and dashes off to get one more sample. What he sets down in front of me was something I’ve never had before but will forever look for again. Houblon Chouffe, a Belgian IPA by Brasserie d’Achouffe has the bitterness, flavor, and in your face hops that get me excited about beer. This cross-over beer features Tomahawk, Amarillo, and European Saaz-Saaz hops that give a noticeable touch of grapefruit both in taste and smell. With an ABV of 9%, you have to be ready for this one too! It was a glorious way to end the night, though, after brew-hopping the day away. Not only was this a style of beer I’ve never encountered, but the brewery was also new to me. Located in Belgium its, unfortunately, not one I’ll be visiting soon but has definitely made it on to my destination wish list. It has nothing to do with the gnomes featured on all Chouffe beer labels, I swear! In case you’re interested, though, each of their beers features a different gnome with their own quirks and story.

Alright, enough about gnomes.

Tine and Cellar, along with an array of beer choices, also has some spectacular food. In their own words, Tine and Cellar “culinary brings the rustic and satisfying flavors of the Old World back to life.” Now, I’m not familiar with old world flavors, but I appreciate good food and LOVE to eat. We scarfed down some truffle fries with french onion aioli while we sipped our beer…and omg. I don’t even have words to describe how good they were. This is definitely a place I’m going to have to take myself on a dinner date just to explore the menu more. I’ve been eyein’ some of their salmon dishes…

And if you’re not a beer drinker, Tine and Cellar has you covered. Not only can you get a cream soda straight up, but you can also watch the staff whip up some impressive cocktails with fresh herbs right at the bar.

Have I mentioned all the beer servers are Cicerone Certified as well? Or that they actually have a cellar to keep wine and age and condition beer? Oh, and that you’ve got two stories of seating with walls of windows? No? Well, now you know 🙂

Tine and Cellar is definitely a place to check out if you haven’t already. I hope you’ll be as impressed as I was!

Maybe I’ll see ya there some time ~ Steph
