Aaron’s Wine and Steins

Aaron’s in downtown Wisconsin Rapids has what my dad would call a ‘talk-about-bar.’ You know those places where conversation just flows naturally between strangers? That is Aaron’s. And there is plenty to stir small talk. Not only is the beer selection impressive, wine-os won’t be left wanting and the food menu has simple, delicious options. Aaron’s also shares space with Local on 1st, a cute retail store that features product from local Wisconsin Rapid-ites 😉

Hazy Rabbit by Lakefront Brewery

While you won’t see a wall of taps (in fact there is only like 4), their cooler has a plenty of surprises. I was drawn right away to a funky label with a rabbit – turns out it was an awesome IPA from Lakefront Brewery called Hazy Rabbit. I’m glad what was in the bottle was as good as the label. Hazy Rabbit is a good, solid IPA with none of the frills AND it features one of my all time favorite hops… Denali 🙂 Be sure to ask for a bottle next time you find yourself at Aaron’s. But if you’re not in the mood to try something new, they’ve got staples on hand like Bells Two Hearted Ale (one of my staples at least!) and a selection of White Claw.

Now I’m not much of a wine drinker but those that are will find plenty to choose from. And I’m sure they all go super well with the different pizzas and cheese boards Aaron’s offers. (Secret: I’m lactose intolerant so I don’t actually know how good those cheese boards and pizzas are… but they look and smell amazing and I enjoy watching other people eat them).

And of course, good beer could not survive without a good bartender. Each time I’ve been to Aaron’s I’ve been impressed with the people. Just this last time, our bartender hadn’t had a chance to try South Shore Brewery’s Rhoades’ Scholar Stout so we bought a bottle and and everyone tried it. Gotta love a good beer talk.

So come check out downtown’s new friend on the block. You won’t be disappointed in the beer, wine, or company. I’m sure I’ll see ya out sometime!

Cheers ~ Steph
