Where do I even start with Mikey’s? This has to be one of my all time favorite dinner spots – especially on Fridays for fish.. but honestly, I get their Central Waters Fish and Chips every chance I get. Highly recommend. You really can’t go wrong with anything on their menu to be fair. With Aged Cheddar Mac & Cheese, the IPA Blu Burger, and a Baked Ham and Apple Sandwich available, sometimes its harder deciding on a meal than a drink.
Though I might be lying about that as they have a whopping 67 beers on tap. Yes, sixty-seven beers all lined up and ready to sample. It is gorgeous. It’s not only a great place to try something new, but you’ll also find old favorites like Bell’s Two Hearted Ale. Personally I almost always sample a couple before picking the one, though last night I couldn’t resist Central Waters Illumination, a glorious double IPA that I’ve been ordering quite a bit while out and about.
I was also super excited that they had some Brewer’s Reserve Bourbon Barrel Barleywine from Central Waters on tap. I first tried this masterpiece while at B’s Tap House a couple weeks ago, and I am hooked. I’m not usually one for the darker beers so I was a bit surprised I like it so much. I’m not sure why though, as it was the winner of the Gold Medal at the 2008 Great American Beer Festival.
Whether you stop in for the food or the beer, Mikey’s is a great space for a night out or dinner with the family. The bar is where you’ll find me, but the dining area is packed full of tables and high tops. They also recently added a small lounge area between the bar and eating areas which is great when it gets a little crowded by the taps.
Doesn’t matter if you’ve got the whole family or flying solo, Mikey’s in Plover is a prime choice – so pull up a seat and try something new! The guys behind the bar are awesome at what they do and will help you find a beer to fall in love with. And if beer isn’t your thing, they’ve got wines, mixers and some awesome old fashions with a twist like Maple and Coffee!
